Unusualy Dark Leopard Gecko
I wanted to share some pictures and talk about one gecko that hatched this year with very unique color. Here's the background on the genetics, her parents are normal looking hypos and her siblings are all hypos(as was expected). So when this very dark looking gecko hatched out I was very surprised! This is one of coolest things about hatching leopard geckos, you never know what's gonna pop out of that little egg! After a couple sheds she started showing darker browns and black color. At this point I knew she was really unique, and I kept a close eye on her.
Now she is three months old and continues to develop new color. As she grows it seems her color is getting lighter every shed, and changing to a more tan color. I'm very interested to see her fully grown, and even more excited to breed her! I still have to decide what to breed her with, I could breed her back to the father to see if there is any new genetics going on or breed her to another gecko with darker colors and hope the babies turn out similar. Either way this next breeding season is going to be very exciting! I have a bunch of other cool breeding pairings that I will be sharing with you soon, and I'll be sure to update everyone later in the year on this gecko!
Let me know what you think of her in the comments!
